It has been noticed on our various inspections that different gas design concentrations appear on hydraulic gas designs. Sometimes the designer claims to use NFPA standards, others manufacturer recommendations. Please note we utilise ISO standards in South Africa; SANS 14520 for clean agent gasses and the following is what should be applied to gas designs in this country.

THE SAGA OF MODULAR GAS CYLINDER INSTALLATIONS CONTINUES
With the supplier of these systems into Africa taking the decision to stop the supply of inverted gas modules into the market the installers continue with their bad habits.
On two recent inspections we found upright modules installed in an inverted manner, with the nozzle at the bottom, even though this meant that the label was upside down and difficult to read.

The FSIB was called to a data centre site after a gas discharge caused apparent damage to hard disc drives.
It was reported that approximately 40 computer hard drives (HDD’s) were damaged after a gas discharge. The cause of the gas discharge was also of concern, as there was no fire, and investigations had to be conducted to see if this could also be determined.
